Job Summary:
The Chemical Plant Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Maintenance Technician will install, repair, and maintain critical instrumentation and electrical equipment onsite at a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant in Baytown. Local candidates only.
In This Role, You Will:
- Install, inspect, calibrate, and repair process controls, control valves, safety devices, analyzers, PLCs, field instrumentation (pressure, level, and flow instrumentation), process monitoring equipment, low and high voltage motors and breakers, control circuits, and distributed control systems (DCS) onsite at the chemical plant.
- Identify problems with equipment and determine the best course of action to ensure reliability 24/7 at both PSM facilities.
- Investigate equipment failures to diagnose the root cause of failure and recommend solutions to improve the performance of equipment, ensuring reliability and capacity of all electrical systems used onsite.
- Program automated equipment and control systems, then test the equipment to ensure proper operation.
- Assist with the development, implementation, and periodic review of preventative, routine, and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve overall manufacturing capabilities.
- Evaluate new methodologies, equipment, instrumentation, controls, and technology for possible application onsite.
- Provide high-level I&E technical and hands-on support for both planned and unplanned maintenance issues and shutdowns.
- Comply with all environmental, health, safety, and security policies, including process safety management (PSM).
- Diligently adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care requirements, demonstrating a steadfast commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethical practices.
What We Require:
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair electronic and electro-mechanical control circuits and systems.
- Ability to work a 4/10 schedule weekly, with possible mandatory overtime, weekends, holidays, or nights as needed to ensure reliability of the 24/7 PSM facility.
- Proficiency in MS Office Suite and Teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, electrical schematics, equipment drawings, and safety procedures, including OSHA guidelines.
- Ability to demonstrate safety when using hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of equipment properties, behaviors, hazards, and experience in overhaul and refurbishment.
- Strong organizational skills with the ability to work independently and lead maintenance efforts.
- Associate’s degree in instrumentation or electrical discipline, or relevant training from a recognized trade or technical school.
- Five or more years of instrumentation and electrical maintenance experience in a chemical manufacturing plant.
- Experience with electrical controls, distribution systems, and motor controls.
- Experience with high voltage equipment (480V), troubleshooting, and resolving complex issues safely.
