Job Summary: The Chemical Plant Instrumentation and Electrical (I&E) Maintenance Technician will install, repair, and maintain instrumentation and electrical equipment onsite at a 24/7 continuous chemical manufacturing plant in Baytown. Local candidates only.
In This Role, You Will:
- Install, inspect, calibrate, and repair process controls, control valves, safety devices, analyzers, PLCs, field instrumentation (pressure, level, and flow), process monitoring equipment, low and high voltage motors and breakers, control circuits, and distributed control systems (DCS) onsite at the chemical plant.
- Identify problems with equipment and determine the best course of action to ensure reliability 24/7 at both PSM facilities.
- Investigate equipment failures to diagnose the root cause, and recommend solutions to improve equipment performance, reliability, and capacity.
- Program automated equipment and control systems, then test to ensure proper operation.
- Assist with developing, implementing, and reviewing preventive, routine, and predictive maintenance programs to reduce unplanned shutdowns and improve plant capabilities.
- Evaluate new methodologies, equipment, instrumentation, controls, and technology for potential onsite application.
- Provide high-level I&E technical and hands-on support for maintenance issues and shutdowns.
- Comply with environmental, health, safety, and security policies, including process safety management (PSM).
- Adhere to and fulfill all Responsible Care requirements, demonstrating a commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and ethics.
What We Require:
- Strong electrical and mechanical aptitude.
- Ability to install, inspect, test, adjust, and repair electronic and electro-mechanical systems.
- Availability to work a 4/10 schedule with possible overtime, including weekends and nights.
- Proficiency in MS Office and Teams.
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and safety procedures, including OSHA guidelines.
- Safety awareness when using hand and power tools.
- Knowledge of machinery properties, behaviors, hazards, and overhauls/refurbishments.
- Good organizational skills and ability to work independently and lead maintenance efforts.
- Associate’s degree in instrumentation or electrical discipline preferred, or technical training.
- At least five years of instrumentation and electrical maintenance experience in a chemical or industrial environment.
- Experience with electrical controls, distribution systems, and motor controls.
- Experience with high voltage equipment and troubleshooting complex issues safely.
