The Instrumentation & Electrical (I&E) Engineer reports to the Maintenance Superintendent and is responsible for the continuous improvement of maintenance systems, equipment reliability, mechanical integrity, quality programs, reduction of maintenance cost, and project technical support for assigned production units. Work within the plant safety, environmental programs and interacts with all levels of plant and non-plant personnel as required to perform duties and responsibilities.

Qualifications

The I&E Engineer will have the accountabilities as outlined below for all instrumentation and electrical facilities of Kaneka North America (KNA), including analyzers, Distributed Control System hardware, and Programmable Logic Controllers.

Accountabilities include:

1. Develop knowledge base and environment for preventive maintenance and reliability: Establish thorough understanding of all I&E components, assemble vendor information, develop technician training, define spare parts and procedures, and advise on third-party contracts.
2. Support Maintenance and Operations as a Technical SME: Provide technical support, perform RCFA, advise on repairs, and recommend improvements.
3. Maintain consistency and integrity of I&E systems: Own specifications, standards, and ensure compliance during modifications and inspections.
4. Drive continuous improvement and preventive maintenance: Keep documentation updated, develop inspection programs, monitor equipment, analyze failures, and implement corrective actions.
5. Support plant modifications and projects: Act as technical adviser, review specifications, and participate in safety reviews and commissioning.
6. Promote plant safety culture: Support safety policies, demonstrate safe behaviors, participate in safety studies, and develop I&E-specific safety procedures.

Other responsibilities include:

• Maintain communication across departments, keep supervisor informed, stay updated with industry trends, uphold professional conduct, and complete mandatory training.
