Job summary

Calumet, Inc. is seeking an I&E Planner in a heavy industrial environment. The role screens work orders, defines scope, and analyzes planning needs to support maintenance activities. You will conduct field visits, identify hazards, and ensure safety procedures are integrated into the job plan.

Responsibilities include estimating hours, planning for skilled trades, and coordinating with management to set priorities. Proficiency with SAP/Maximo and MS Office is required.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required.
• 5+ years of experience as a Journeyman I&E Technician OR a Maintenance Planner in a heavy industrial environment (e.g., chemical, refining, power generation, manufacturing).
• Strong understanding of industrial instrumentation, electrical systems (low/medium voltage), motor controls, PLCs, and P&IDs.
• Demonstrated ability to organize and plan tasks.
• Computer skills required: JDE/SAP/Maximo experience; Spreadsheet and Microsoft Office; Project Management Software (MS Project, etc.); Email (Outlook).

Responsibilities

• Screen incoming work orders, identify scope and analyze required planning level.
• Conduct field walk downs to identify and document job requirements.
• Identify safety hazards; ensure safety procedures are included in the plan.
• Estimate hours for each task and total work order duration; determine skills required.
• Plan jobs with appropriate detail for skilled trades workforce.
• Determine QA/QC requirements and procure equipment/tools accordingly.
• Gathers engineering documents, specifications, and drawings; produce budget estimates (within 10-15%).
• Write clear work packages and procedures; plan parts to maximize wrench time.
