Job summary

Veolia is seeking an I&C Project Engineer in Cary, NC to support complex projects within a multidisciplinary team. You will determine scope, specify equipment, design control systems, select instruments, and program PLC/HMI systems, with startup and field support as needed.

The role requires a 2+ year background in electrical tech, AutoCAD Electrical, and PLC/HMI experience (Allen-Bradley preferred). Expect 30–40% travel and on-site work with Veolia’s Water Technology team.

Qualifications

Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering Technology or equivalent with 2+ years experience.
Proficiency with AutoCAD Electrical for drafting and modification of documents.
Strong troubleshooting of PLC/HMI systems (Allen Bradley preferred; Modicon/Siemens a plus).
Proficiency with VFD hardware/software (Schneider Electric/Allen Bradley preferred; ABB/Danfoss a plus).
Knowledge of Ethernet networks, VPNs and remote access.
Familiarity with Modbus, Profibus, DeviceNet is a plus.
Ability to troubleshoot instrumentation, controls, and field wiring; read installation manuals.
Strong customer relations and ability to report project status.
Travel: approximately 30-40% travel required.

Responsibilities

Review project requirements and design controls to meet scope.
Design and price controls based on project requirements; select instruments.
Coordinate submittals including control panel design, loop diagrams, BOMs.
Design, modify, and implement PLC, HMI, and OIT applications.
Coordinate site activities between PLC implementation and SCADA.
Provide start-up, troubleshoot issues, and support plant personnel remotely or on site.
