Job summary

WA River Protection Solutions is seeking an I&C Engineer to provide technical support across Hanford’s DFLAW facilities. You will design, implement, and commission instrumentation and control systems, ensure safety and regulatory compliance, and drive improvements in reliability and performance.

The role requires strong experience with control systems, SIS standards (ISA-61511), PLCs, and field instrumentation.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or related technical discipline and 1 year of related experience (Grade 15).
• BS degree in Engineering or related technical discipline and 2 years of related experience (Grade 16).
• BS degree in Engineering or related technical discipline and 4 years of related experience (Grade 17).
• Duties scale with grade level; responsibilities expand accordingly.

Responsibilities

• Maintain required training and qualifications; perform engineering work per procedures and execution plans.
• Evaluate technical issues and support resolution of condition reports; perform corrective actions and ensure compliance.
• Maintain and protect design and operating margins for assigned systems and equipment.
• Perform engineering work in compliance with environmental permits, regulations, ISMS principles, and nuclear safety culture.
• Develop and maintain advanced control systems for waste retrieval, treatment, and transfer applications.
• Integrate sensors, automation, diagnostics, PLCs, DCS, instrumentation, and ICS components to improve reliability and safety.
• Analyze and diagnose system problems; optimize system performance; recommend solutions.
• Maintain knowledge of DSA, TSR, and Environmental Permit requirements for tank farm and DFLAW/WTP systems.
• Coordinate technical interfaces across project, operations, maintenance, construction, and integration; track issues to closure.
• Prepare and deliver clear verbal and written technical information; incorporate stakeholder feedback.
• Provide input to O&M documents, work packages, procedures, and Engineering Change Notices.
• Develop, establish, and update system operating or maintenance procedures.
• Support ongoing operations by monitoring system health and developing corrective actions.
• Support startup and commissioning testing activities including field walkdowns, data collection, and issue resolution.
• Troubleshoot instrumentation, control logic, device interfaces, and system performance.
• Maintain relationships with customers, stakeholders, and partner organizations.
• Provide technical reports, updates, and presentations to management and stakeholders.
• Perform additional engineering tasks to support mission needs.
