Job summary

Eichleay, Inc. is seeking an Instrumentation and Controls (I&C) Designer in Billings, MT, with strong I&C and electrical design experience for refinery and oil & gas projects.

The role involves developing I&C design packages, coordinating with engineers and other disciplines, and leading junior designers as needed. Hybrid work arrangement with some in-office and remote days is available.

Qualifications

• Education: Associate’s degree in engineering or related field.
• Experience: 5+ years in refinery or oil & gas industries.
• Location: hybrid in Billings, MT with 3 days in office and 2 days remote.
• Skills: ability to coordinate with disciplines and strong communication; proficient in MS Office and CAD tools.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate awareness of health, safety and environmental issues and work to zero incidents.
• Review project documents for conformity and quality assurance to meet schedules.
• Develop complete I&C design and construction packages for refinery / industrial projects.
• Create instrumentation deliverables: Instrument Indexes, I/O Lists, loop diagrams, conduit drawings, schematics, termination drawings, installation details, instrument location plans.
• Develop electrical deliverables: area classifications, single-line diagrams, grounding plans, cable routing, UPS systems, heat tracing, panel schedules, lighting plans, duct bank details.
• Assemble drawing and construction work packages for review and approval.
• Coordinate instrumentation and electrical design across disciplines and project deliverables.
• Produce designs from project specifications, vendor data, and field information.
• Work independently on complex design tasks and assist with man-hour estimates and MTOs.
