Job summary

The University of Minnesota seeks a candidate to lead modeling and simulation research for hypersonics within the Minnesota Aerospace Complex. The role involves collaboration with faculty, staff and graduate students and may include teaching within the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Mechanics.

Salary is commensurate with experience and candidates may be considered at Assistant, Associate, or Full Professor levels.

Qualifications

  • PhD in aerospace engineering or related field.
  • Two or more years of research training.
  • Excellent analytical and computer programming skills.
  • Ability to manage multiple projects and work with other research staff.
  • Excellent organizational, presentation and writing skills.
  • Demonstrated self-motivation and creativity.

Responsibilities

  • Develop high-fidelity modeling and simulation methods for hypersonics.
  • Work with the code development team to implement and validate new features.
  • Assist users to identify issues and define new requirements.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to graduate students and post-docs.
  • Support proposal development and reporting, including writing technical reports and papers.
