Job summary

Leidos in Huntsville, AL is seeking a Hypersonics Machining Manager to lead the activation of a new machining facility and establish production readiness for future programs. This role combines strong CNC machining expertise with leadership to drive scalable manufacturing and high-performance teams.

You will oversee non-metallic machining, program optimization, and process documentation while ensuring safety, quality, cost, and delivery.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree + 8+ years of machining/manufacturing experience; or Master’s + 6+ years.
• 8+ years progressive machining/manufacturing experience with leadership responsibility.
• Demonstrated experience managing CNC machining operations.
• Strong knowledge of CNC programming, machining processes, tooling, workholding, feeds and speeds, and process optimization.
• Experience with non-metallic machining and facility activation/production ramp-up.
• Experience launching or standing up a manufacturing facility or production operation.
• Candidate must be a US citizen with Secret Clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead facility activation and machining start-up, including equipment installation and production release.
• Provide operational and technical leadership for CNC machining, programming, tooling, and processes.
• Own SQCD performance and drive first-time-right manufacturing and scrap reduction.
• Build and develop a high-performing team of machinists, programmers, and supervisors.
• Establish and monitor metrics like OEE, cycle time, labor efficiency, and capacity.
