Johns Hopkins Applied Physics Laboratory (APL) in Laurel, MD is seeking engineering interns to help prototype, develop, and analyze next-generation hypersonic and reentry systems. You will join a collaborative team addressing challenging problems in flight dynamics, vehicle design, and enabling technologies for national defense.

Ideal candidates are pursuing degrees in Aerospace/Mechanical Engineering or CS with strong modeling, software development, and CAD/simulation experience, and you may be

Qualifications

• Pursuing a Bachelor’s, Master’s, or Doctorate in Aerospace, Mechanical, CS, or related field
• GPA 3.0 or higher on a 4.0 scale
• Interest in modeling/simulation, software development, vehicle design, aerodynamics, flight dynamics, or trajectory optimization
• Must be able to obtain Interim Secret clearance; US citizenship required

Responsibilities

• Generate CAD models for vehicle prototypes
• Develop software modeling complex flight systems
• Perform aerodynamic/aerothermal analysis on hypersonic vehicles
• Use modeling/simulation tools for trade studies and performance assessments
• Collaborate with cross-disciplinary teams on reentry system designs
• Produce reports/present findings to team and sponsors
