Job summary

Stratolaunch in Mojave, CA is seeking a Mechanical Payload Engineer to work across multiple teams on interface and integration requirements for Talon-A payloads, performing packaging design and analysis for mechanical and avionics components.

The role includes creating CAD models, ordering hardware, deconflicting interfaces, supporting fabricators, mentoring junior engineers, and contributing to reviews and contract deliverables; travel may be required.

Responsibilities

• Define interface and integration requirements across teams.
• Design and analyze mechanical and avionics packaging for payloads.
• Perform structural and thermal analyses of components and assemblies.
• Create and manage 3D CAD sub-models and master models for Talon-A payloads.
• Spec and order hardware to fabricate designs.
• Resolve hardware interface conflicts between teams quickly.
• Support fabricators and mechanics during build and integration.
• Report to Talon-A Payload Integration Lead and assist.
• Mentor junior engineers on design and analysis best practices.
• Suggest workflow improvements and process changes.
• Support payload proposals and contract deliverables; travel as needed.
