Job summary

Stratolaunch is seeking a level II or Sr. Structural/Mechanical Engineer to support Talon-A hypersonic vehicle development. You will design, analyze, model in CAD, and generate margin reports while guiding the team and coordinating with manufacturing.

Responsibilities include detailed design, component sizing, and integration with the carrier aircraft. Travel may be required; security clearance is possible.

Qualifications

• Ability to analyze designs using hand calculations and FEM.
• Experience with 3D CAD modeling of parts and assemblies.
• Experience with composite part fabrication and manufacturing methods.
• Experience with composite tooling methods.
• Experience with aerospace fasteners and specs.
• Experience with drafting and GD&T.
• Ability to communicate technical challenges to varied audiences.
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Participate in aerospace structural design efforts.
• Perform detailed design and issue engineering work orders.
• Size and analyze components to meet structure requirements; write margin reports.
• Design secondary structures for mounting components.
• Select materials and construction methods meeting objectives.
• Create 3D CAD models of parts and assemblies.
• Collaborate with shop and technicians to fabricate and assemble designs.
• Support integration with carrier aircraft and mentor teammates.
• Communicate progress to project leads and travel as needed.
