Job summary

Verity Integrated Systems is seeking a Flight Software Lead Engineer to drive the architecture, development, and testing of flight software for hypersonic vehicle programs. You will lead a team across integration, verification, and testing, coordinating with avionics, GNC, and test teams throughout the lifecycle.

The role demands hands-on leadership, deep expertise in embedded real-time software, and a track record of delivering robust software for safety-critical systems.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in a technical field from an accredited institution.
• 7+ years of software engineering experience, with embedded/real-time focus.
• Experience developing flight/embedded software for safety-critical systems.
• Strong C and/or C++ proficiency for real-time environments.
• Experience adapting software architectures to flight vehicle needs.
• Ability to lead technical activities while contributing to code and integration.
• Experience with version control using Git/GitLab and CM practices.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. Government security clearance.

Responsibilities

• Lead architecture, design, development, integration, and verification of embedded flight software.
• Act as technical lead for the flight software team, providing direction and reviews.
• Develop real-time embedded software supporting GNC, mission management, and avionics interfaces.
• Translate system requirements into flight software requirements and architecture.
• Define software interfaces with flight computers, sensors, actuators, and comms.
• Collaborate with GNC to integrate algorithms into flight software.
• Lead software integration with avionics and SIL/HWIL testing.
• Create verification strategies, tests, and automated test capabilities.
• Troubleshoot complex software/hardware and support design reviews.
• Support flight planning, testing, and post-flight data analysis.
• Maintain coding standards, configuration management, and release processes.
