Job summary
Hermeus, a venture-backed defense aviation company, is seeking a Senior Flight Software Engineer to design, develop, and implement embedded software for our hypersonic aircraft systems. You will collaborate with hardware and systems engineers to deliver safe, high-performance flight control and navigation software.
This role may also consider Software Engineer II or Principal Engineer candidates. You will contribute to requirements, reviews, testing, and documentation, and you will stay current
Qualifications
- Bachelor's or Master's degree in Computer Engineering or related field.
- 5+ years of embedded flight software development experience.
- Proficient in C/C++ and embedded software development tools/methodologies.
Responsibilities
- Develop and maintain embedded flight software for aircraft systems.
- Collaborate with hardware engineers to integrate software and hardware.
- Write efficient, well-documented code meeting safety requirements.
- Develop software requirements and design documents.
- Participate in code and design reviews.
- Test and debug software to meet specifications and performance.
- Work with systems engineers on system-level tests and simulations.
- Contribute to safety-critical software documentation and DO-178C/MIL-516C practices.
- Stay up-to-date with trends in embedded flight software.
- Develop and maintain technical documentation.
