Job summary

IES Communications seeks a Technical Director to provide program-level technical leadership and governance across multiple customers and regions. You will influence engineering standards, schedule discipline, and technical accountability while coordinating with program teams to ensure successful delivery.

The role requires travel and strong collaboration across technical managers, field engineers, and schedulers to align on scope, risks, and performance metrics.

Qualifications

• Minimum seven (7) years supervisory or managerial experience.
• Minimum five (5) years of experience in telecommunications or related technical/construction field.
• Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, and MS Project).

Responsibilities

• Provide program-level technical governance and oversight across all program projects and regions.
• Establish, maintain, and enforce standardized technical execution practices, engineering standards, and documentation requirements.
• Provide leadership to Technical Managers and Senior Field Engineers supporting the program.
• Oversee schedulers to ensure schedule discipline, forecasting accuracy, and operations coordination.
• Serve as escalation point for technical issues impacting delivery, schedule, or customer confidence.
• Ensure consistent application of technical requirements, specifications, and standards across sites.
• Support startup/readiness processes including engineering reviews and execution planning.
• Collaborate with Pre-Construction for scope validation, constructability reviews, and estimating support.
• Support change management with scope validation, technical justification, and trend visibility.
• Monitor performance metrics, dashboards, and KPIs for technical execution and schedule health.
• Identify risks early and support mitigation and recovery planning.
