Job Summary

The Hyperbaric Technologist administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy to patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Physician under the direction of the Director of the Outpatient Wound Care Department.

Responsibilities

• Operate and monitor multi‑place chamber systems with a high level of knowledge of chamber operating procedures and air decompression.
• Apply knowledge of physical gas laws and related formulas.
• Identify contraindications associated with hyperbaric oxygen therapy.
• Demonstrate competency in chamber operation including pressurization, treatment, decompression, cleaning, inspection, maintenance, daily quality log documentation, and TCPO2 testing.
• Maintain the ability to tolerate pressurization and depressurization in a multi‑place hyperbaric chamber.
• Ensure departmental compliance with JCS, NFPA 99, PVHO, UHMS, NBDHMT, and other applicable unit safety policies.
• Follow multi‑place emergency procedures.
• Know the chamber system layout and components thoroughly.

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED.
• Basic Cardiac Life Support certification obtained within 30 days of employment start date.
