Job description

Job Overview

As a Hyperbaric Technician you will support the hyperbaric department by monitoring patients, operating chambers, maintaining equipment, and ensuring compliance with safety and quality standards. Your expertise is essential in treating complex wounds such as ulcers, burns, pressure injuries, diabetic foot wounds, and skin tears.

Responsibilities
  • Keep patients informed and provide periodic updates during therapy.
  • Promote, enforce, and support patient satisfaction, performance improvement, safety, compliance, accrediting, and quality initiatives.
  • Assist with the preventative maintenance schedule for hyperbaric systems.
  • Maintain logs (operations, safety, and maintenance) and record all patient and billing information.
  • Prepare hyperbaric chamber equipment and materials for patients undergoing therapy.
  • Operate the control panel during all dives and make recommendations to physicians as needed.
  • Schedule patients and accommodate consultations and emergency treatments.
  • Under supervision, change oxygen, air, nitrogen and 60/40 nitrox bank tanks and dispose of empty tanks appropriately.
  • Process hyperbaric equipment for cleaning, sterilizing, and packaging.
  • Respond to emergency calls in a timely manner to ensure effective treatment of hyperbaric emergencies.
  • Assist in utilization and maintenance of patient‑care equipment.
  • Maintain a clean, neat, orderly department.
  • Monitor patients during therapy and report unusual conditions or occurrences.
  • Carry out treatment protocols accurately as prescribed by the hyperbaric physician.
  • Report any changes in a patient’s condition to the supervisor and/or physician.
  • Obtain consent and patient vital signs as needed and perform transcutaneous monitoring and point‑of‑care glucometer testing when required.
  • Initiate interventions for patients’ emotional needs and evaluate progress, satisfaction, and expectations.
Qualifications
  • Must‑Haves (minimum):
    • DMT, EMT, Paramedic, Respiratory Therapist, LPN, or RN
    • Driving background (Drive School, Commercial, Military)
    • Certified Hyperbaric Technologist through the National Board of Diving and Hyperbaric Medical Technology
    • American Heart Association BLS certification
  • Preferred:
    • 2‑3 years of experience in clinical hyperbaric chamber operations
  • WORK SHIFT: Variable Hours (United States of America)
