Job summary

St. Joseph Center in Los Angeles is seeking a Hygiene Manager to lead daily shower, restroom, and laundry operations at the Care Campus. You will supervise the Hygiene team, manage staffing, and ensure safety, sanitation, and participant dignity across services.

The role partners with Safety, Case Management, Facilities and health teams to provide a welcoming, accessible environment and to connect participants with additional resources. Hybrid work with onsite presence in Los Angeles area.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent required; bachelor’s degree preferred.
• Three or more years of progressively responsible experience in homeless or hygiene services or high-volume operations.
• Two or more years of supervisory or team-leadership experience preferred.
• Experience managing frontline staff, scheduling, coverage, and day-to-day operations.
• Experience serving individuals experiencing homelessness and those with behavioral health or complex needs.
• Experience with sanitation, infection prevention, inventory management, or facilities coordination.
• Strong leadership, organization, communication, conflict-resolution, and problem-solving skills.
• Understanding of trauma-informed care, harm reduction, and person-centered services.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and scheduling/documentation systems.

Responsibilities

• Lead daily operations of shower, restroom, and laundry services.
• Monitor participant flow, wait times, and adjust operations for accessibility.
• Maintain privacy, dignity, safety, and equitable access.
• Respond to concerns and connect participants to additional services.
• Supervise Hygiene Leads and Hygiene Specialists.
• Build staffing schedules and manage coverage and assignments.
• Set expectations for engagement, safety, documentation, and conduct.
• Collaborate with campus teams on recruitment, onboarding, and performance management.
