Job summary

Transwest Inc. seeks a Hydrovac Technician to maintain, diagnose, and repair hydrovacs with emphasis on hydraulics and electrical systems. Role requires diagnosing, repairing, and testing, plus rolling out warranty verification and parts coordination.

The position is on-site, with compensation at $28.00–$40.00 hourly, and benefits including health, life, 401(k), HSA/FSA, and paid time off. Travel and welding duties may apply as needed.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License and MVR in good standing; ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 90 days.
  • 3 years recent mechanic experience required.
  • Experience diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks and/or RVs.
  • Must possess complete set of hand tools with rollaway toolbox.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills; detail oriented.
  • Must obtain refrigerant recovery certification.
  • Willingness to work independently and in varied environments.
  • Ability to pass a General Abilities Assessment, background check, and drug screen.

Responsibilities

  • Maintain neat and orderly work area and accountability for tools.
  • Uphold regulations governing hazardous waste disposal.

Description

The Hydrovac Technician is responsible for maintenance, diagnosis, and repair of hydrovacs. The ideal candidate has experience in hydrovac operation and repair, knowledge of hydraulics, and ability to trouble-shoot electrical systems.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
  • Perform diagnosis and repair work as outlined in repair order.
  • Verify warranty, if applicable, on all repair orders.
  • Perform all work with efficiency and accuracy and in accordance with dealership and factory standards.
  • Communicate with the parts department to secure necessary parts.
  • Save and tag warranty parts.
  • Advise shop foreman and provide recommendation if repair order needs to be adjusted.
  • Repair documented in technician comments during each active time punch.
  • Road test vehicles as needed for quality assessment.
  • Maintain working knowledge of factory technical bulletins.
  • Ensure customer vehicle cleanliness.
  • Maintain neat and orderly work area.
  • Accountable for all dealership owned tools.
  • Uphold federal, state and local regulations governing the disposal of hazardous waste.
  • Perform job duties and functions with flexibility in the event circumstances shift, i.e., emergencies, changes in personnel, workload, rush jobs or technology developments.
  • Installation of components.
  • Test operation of completed unit.
  • Trouble shoot and repair customer units in the service shop and in the field when necessary.
  • Install heavy components such as PTO’s and pumps.
  • Install components in truck cabs and on truck bodies.
  • Install and test hydraulic systems.
  • Other duties as assigned by the manager.

Requirements

WORK ENVIRONMENT & PHYSICAL ABILITIES:
  • Required to perform work inside and outside, in all-weather situations, at the shop division location.
  • Requires frequent sitting, standing, balancing, bending or stooping for prolonged periods of time.
  • Manual dexterity, fine manipulation and the ability to reach with hands and arms and lift up to 80 lbs.
  • Must be able to operate simple to complex and heavy-duty machinery.
  • Normal range of hearing and vision.
REQUIRED EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLS:
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Valid Driver's License and MVR in good standing and ability to obtain a Class B CDL within 90 days of employment.
  • Candidate must have experience diagnosing and repairing diesel trucks and/or RVs.
  • Candidate must be a motivated individual who can work independently.
  • Following completion of all online training, selected candidate will be required to attend training sessions for products serviced by the company at the company's expense.
  • Candidate must possess a complete set of hand tools with rollaway toolbox.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Must obtain refrigerant recovery certification.
  • Candidate must possess a complete set of hand tools with rollaway toolbox.
  • 3 years recent mechanic experience is required.
  • Experience working with hydraulic systems.
  • Aluminum mig & tig welding experience.
  • Familiarity with automotive electronics and 110-volt systems.
  • Excellent verbal and communication skills.
  • Ability to perform heavy component installations.
  • Candidate must be a motivated individual who can work independently.
  • Ability to successfully complete a General Abilities Assessment and pass post-offer background check, physical and drug screening.
