Job summary

GPT Renewables is seeking an experienced Safety Manager to support a long-term hydro project at McNary Dam in Umatilla, Oregon. The role will serve as the site safety manager and primary onsite safety representative, implementing project safety programs and ensuring compliance with federal and state regulations.

Responsibilities include conducting inspections, preparing safety documents, leading trainings, and coordinating with USACE and client representatives.

Qualifications

• USACE project experience required.
• Knowledge of EM 385-1-1 regulations.
• OSHA 30 certification required.
• SSHO training/qualifications for USACE projects.
• Strong communication and leadership skills required.

Responsibilities

• Serve as the project Site Safety Manager and onsite safety representative.
• Implement and enforce project safety programs, policies, and procedures.
• Ensure compliance with EM 385-1-1, OSHA, client and federal/state regulations.
• Conduct daily site safety inspections, audits, observations, and hazard assessments.
• Coordinate corrective actions with project leadership.
• Prepare and update Accident Prevention Plans, AHAs, EHS plans, safety reports, and related docs.
• Lead toolbox talks and safety trainings.
• Review activities for PPE, fall protection, rescue planning, and safe work procedures.
• Support incident investigations and root-cause analysis.
• Coordinate with project management, field supervision, and USACE personnel.
• Maintain safety records and documentation.
• Balance field oversight with safety documentation/EHS planning.
• Promote a strong safety culture and address risks proactively.
