Job summary

HDR seeks a Hydropower Engineering Manager (Mechanical Design) to lead the NorCal hydropower mechanical practice. You will shape strategy, growth, and technical excellence while guiding recruitment and retention of a multidisciplinary team.

You’ll manage operations, client expectations, and cross-functional services across projects, with emphasis on quality, profitability, and long-term partnerships. HDR values ownership and collaboration.

Qualifications

• Clear communication and collaboration with multidisciplinary teams.
• Experience supporting client relationships and delivering quality mechanical work.
• Extensive hydropower engineering/design experience, 10+ years preferred.
• Deep technical knowledge of hydropower mechanical systems.
• Active involvement in hydro-focused industry organizations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee operations of production section including staff development and profitability.
• Ensure quality of production: P&IDs, sizing, detailed design, calculations, reports, client presentations.
• Provide technical oversight for feasibility studies and design evaluations.
• Act as Technical Leader and Project Manager on multiple projects.
