Job summary

Xcel Energy in Eau Claire, Wisconsin offers an internship focused on hydroelectric assets within Renewable Generation. You will work with engineers to support dam safety, plan reviews, and field observations while gaining hands-on, mentored experience.

You will learn about dam design, federal requirements, and practical reporting as you rotate through Hydro Operations and Energy Supply Projects. This internship starts May 24, 2027, with potential extension based on performance and business needs.

Qualifications

• Current student, Sophomore or higher.
• Enrolled in ABET-accredited Civil Engineering program.
• Travel to hydroelectric facilities required at least 25% of the time.
• Able to work full-time during summer (up to 40 hours/week) or part-time during school year (up to 20 hours/week).

Responsibilities

• Attend dam safety inspections with Operations and regulatory agencies.
• Participate in risk evaluations and understand prioritization for dam safety work.
• Support construction observation activities and review plans/specifications for safety projects.
• Assist in preparing technical reports and reviewing federal regulatory requirements.
