Job summary

Hatch Ltd. seeks a Hydrometallurgy Process Intern to support the Metals group from our Tampa, FL location.

You will assist with studies on rare earths and battery metals, develop mass balance models, and help evaluate process equipment and costs under supervision. The role emphasizes collaboration with global offices, in-person work primarily at the Tampa site, and exposure to design deliverables, drawings, and client interactions.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor’s or master’s degree in chemical engineering, metallurgical engineering, extractive metallurgy, or a relevant field
• Minimum of a cumulative 3.0 GPA on a 4.0 scale
• Must have proven skills with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint

Responsibilities

• Assist in studies for various commodities including rare earths, critical minerals and battery metals related projects
• Prepare design calculations and develop mass balance models in simulation software (METSIM,SysCAD, IDEASetc)
• Evaluate process alternatives and equipment/technology selection
• Evaluate materials of construction
• Provide process design requirements to designers and review their plant layout developments
• Prepare process equipment data sheets, including technical details and duties as required
• Ensure process specifications portray the appropriate information and design intent
• Write process descriptions and control philosophies
• Work with the project team to prepare capital and operating cost estimates
• Provide technical input/direction and assign work to designers, technicians, and others
• Liaise with clients, contractor representatives, and/or project field personnel as necessary to assist with meeting key project deliverables

You bring to the role:

• Strong academic record
• Previous co-op or summer work terms within metallurgical or chemical process plants or engineering is an asset
• Academic or work experience with process modelling, process equipment and developing process engineering deliverables is an asset
• Must have proven skills with MS Excel, Word, and PowerPoint
