Job summary

Freeport-McMoRan Inc. operates the Tyrone open-pit copper mine in New Mexico. The role performs leaching duties, assists with pipe fusions, and maintains leach fields, using plant equipment with a focus on safety and efficiency.

Applicants should have at least 3 months in mining/manufacturing or related fields, and a high school diploma or GED. Competitive hourly pay ranges from $20.00 to $26.50 and benefits are available.

Qualifications

• Three (3) months experience in mining/manufacturing, industrial operations, commercial construction, landscaping, or agriculture.
• Must demonstrate aptitude and complete required competencies; pass safety assessment when required.

Responsibilities

• Perform duties related to the leaching process and leach field construction.
• Assist with pipe fusions using a fusing machine.
• Maintain knowledge of plant nomenclature including sumps, pumps, and leaching areas.
• Assist with placement of evaporative spray heads and drip systems on leach fields.
• Assist with clay treatment which may include a filter press.
• Assist with loading, delivering, and unloading pipe and materials.
• Operate mobile equipment such as skid-steer loaders, forklifts, boom trucks, and light duty vehicles.
• Assist with maintenance activities.
• Perform area housekeeping and other duties as required.
