Nippon Sanso MATHESON is hiring a HyCO Plant Relief Operator for our Lemont, IL site. This entry-level role learns the basics of hydrogen plant operations, supports shift vacations, and covers day, night, and weekend shifts with about 40 hours per week.

Growth into a regular Operations Technician is possible based on aptitude, safety mindset, and reliability. The position collaborates with operations and maintenance teams to support plant performance and safe operations.

Qualifications

• Associates Degree - 2-year degree in a related discipline from an accredited college or equivalent training.
• Preferred 1-3 years in an industrial operations or maintenance environment.
• Math skills including basic algebra, fractions/percentages, and unit conversions.
• General PC proficiency (Word, Excel, email) for daily reporting.
• Basic understanding of electrical hazards and safety practices.
• Strong mechanical or electrical aptitude.
• Ability to learn plant diagrams and procedures.
• Knowledge of Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures.
• Willingness to work 12-hour rotating shifts and overtime as needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn and operate hydrogen plant processes and related equipment.
• Monitor process and auxiliary equipment; complete logs and samples.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping, and adherence to procedures.
• Interpret P&ID drawings and troubleshoot system issues.
• Record equipment performance and maintain documentation.
• Participate in daily and shutdown maintenance activities.
• Support with starting/stopping plants safely per conditions.
