Job summary

Nippon Sanso Matheson seeks a Hydrogen Plant Relief Operator to learn the basics of hydrogen plant operations, cover day, night and weekend shifts, and support operator coverage for vacations. This entry role offers potential progression to an Operations Technician based on aptitude and safety performance.

You will work with operations and maintenance teams, perform logs and rounds, monitor equipment, and participate in safe work practices and energy isolation procedures.

Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial plant is not required but desired.
• Math: basic algebra, fractions/percentages, unit conversion.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office (word, spreadsheets, email).
• Strong interpersonal abilities to support team goals.
• Basic understanding of electrical hazards and safety.
• Strong mechanical aptitude.
• Physically able to perform duties (lift up to 50 lbs, climb stairs).
• Ability to operate forklift and/or man-lift per policy.

Responsibilities

• Obtain knowledge to operate and maintain the steam methane reformer process and related equipment.
• Monitor process and related equipment; complete logs, water sampling, transfers, housekeeping.
• Maintain safety; uphold cleanliness and hazard elimination.
• Interpret Piping & Instrument Drawings to understand operations and troubleshoot.
• Evaluate equipment performance and maintain records.
• Promote safe work environment and timely reporting of incidents.
• Assist with updating plant equipment and work instructions.
• Apply Work Permit, Lock-Out/Tag-Out and energy isolation procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team, vendors, safety and management.
• Assist with starting/stopping the plant as needed.
