Job summary

Nippon Sanso Matheson is seeking a HYCO Relief Plant Operator in Lemont, IL to learn the basics of hydrogen plant operations, perform shift logs, and support operator coverage on day, night and weekend shifts.

This introductory role offers growth into a regular Operations Technician position based on aptitude and safety performance; approx. 40 hours per week with flexibility.

Qualifications

• Math - basic algebra, fractions/percentages, unit conversion.
• General personal computer proficiency in Microsoft Office (word processing, spreadsheets, email) and other software utilized by the company.

Responsibilities

• Obtain knowledge to operate and maintain the process of a steam methane reformer and related equipment.
• Monitor the process and outside related equipment; make rounds, complete logs, water sampling, transfers, and maintain housekeeping.
• Be safety conscious; attend meetings, keep area clean, eliminate hazards.
• Develop ability to interpret P&ID drawings and understand process operations and equipment.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude; evaluate equipment performance and maintain records.
• Follow work policies to promote a safe work environment and timely reporting of incidents.
• Maintain and update plant equipment and work instructions.
• Apply Work Permit, Lock-Out/Tag-Out and energy isolation procedures as required.
• Communicate effectively with team members, vendors, safety and management.
• Assist with starting/stopping the plants in a safe manner as dictated by operating conditions.

HYCO Relief Plant Operator - Lemont, IL

Wage $0-$28/hr

HyCO Hydrogen Plant Relief Operator - This will be anintroductory operations role that will be expected to learn the basics ofhydrogen plant operations, outside shift logs, duties and requirements tosupport operator shift vacations. This will require flexibility incovering day, night and weekend shifts, generally with at minimum two weeks'notice for when coverage is needed. This position has the potential tomove into a regular Operations Technician role based on the selected candidate'saptitude, work ethic, ability to learn and contribute positively to the site'ssafety, performance and reliability. During weeks when minimum or novacation coverage is needed this role will work with the operations andmaintenance team on daily tasks. Expectation is that this role will workapproximately 40 hours per week, this could vary depending on shift coveragerequired. Matheson is looking for a candidate looking to learn and growas an operator that is willing to accept responsibility to be proactive and innovativein solutions to ensure efficient plant operations and a safe work environment.

Position Accountabilities

1. Obtain the knowledge base required to operate and maintain the process of asteam methane reformer and related equipment associated with the process,understand the plant's water chemistry to assure proper operations andequipment functioning.
2. Monitor the process and outside related equipment. This includesmaking rounds, completing logs sheets, water sampling, oil andchemicaltransfers and maintaining housekeeping.
3. Be safety conscious; i.e. meetings, work area cleanliness, eliminate hazardswhen noted, etc.
4. Develop ability to interpret Piping & Instrument Drawings to understandprocess operations, equipment and aid in trouble shooting system anomalies.
5. Demonstrate mechanical aptitude, evaluate equipment performance and maintainappropriate records.
6. Follow company work policies to promote a safe work environment thatencourages active participation and timely reporting of all incidents andunsafe conditions.
7. Participate in the maintenance and updating of plant equipment and workinstructions.
8. Apply the Work Permit process, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and energy isolationprocedures as required for company and contractor personnel.
9. Good communication skills with all team members, vendors, safety andmanagement teams, etc.
10. Assist with starting / stopping the plants in a safe manner as dictated byoperating conditions and business needs.

• *Experience in an industrial plant in the operations or maintenance departmentsnot required but desired

• *Strong Interpersonal abilities to support team philosophy and strategy
• *Basic understanding of electrical hazards and safety
• *Strong mechanical aptitude
• *Physically able to perform all duties required which may involve among otherthings; bending, stooping, kneeling, climbing ladders and lifting / carryingloads up to 50 lbs.
• *Ability to climb stairs and work effectively on platforms up to 150 feet abovegrade
• *Capable of operating a forklift and/or man-lift according to company policy
