Job summary

Nippon Sanso Matheson, Anacortes, WA, seeks a HyCO Plant Relief Operator to learn hydrogen plant operations, covering day, night and weekend shifts to support vacations. This safety-sensitive role offers growth into a regular Operations Technician position based on aptitude and performance.

Expect to perform rounds, log sheets, water sampling, and coordinate with operations and maintenance teams while building foundational technical skills for safe, efficient plant operation.

Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial plant operations or maintenance is desired.
• Math basics: algebra, fractions, percentages, unit conversions.
• Microsoft Office proficiency (word, spreadsheets, email).
• Strong interpersonal abilities to support team philosophy and safety.
• Basic understanding of electrical hazards and safety.
• Strong mechanical aptitude for equipment evaluation.
• Physical ability to perform duties (lift up to 50 lbs, stairs).
• Able to climb stairs and platforms up to 150 feet above grade.
• Capable of operating a forklift and/or man-lift per policy.

Responsibilities

• Obtain knowledge to operate and maintain the process and equipment.
• Monitor process and outside equipment; complete logs and water sampling.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety; report hazards promptly.
• Interpret Piping & Instrument Drawings to aid troubleshooting.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and keep equipment records.
• Follow Work Permit, LOTO and energy isolation procedures.
• Communicate effectively with team, vendors and management.
• Assist with starting/stopping plants safely per conditions.
• Participate in maintenance and updating of plant equipment.
• Support daily tasks with operations and maintenance teams.
