Job summary

Nippon Sanso Matheson is seeking a HYCO Relief Plant Operator in Lemont, IL to learn hydrogen plant operations and support shift coverage. The role emphasizes safety, logs, and basic process tasks while gaining hands-on experience.

Selected candidate will work approximately 40 hours a week with potential progression to an Operations Technician role based on aptitude, work ethic, and reliability in ensuring safe, efficient plant operations.

Qualifications

• Experience in an industrial plant environment is helpful but not required.
• Ability to learn hydrogen plant operations and safety procedures.
• Willingness to cover day, night and weekend shifts as needed.

Responsibilities

• Learn the operation of the steam methane reformer and related equipment.
• Monitor process and outside equipment; perform rounds and logs.
• Maintain housekeeping and safety standards in the work area.
• Interpret Piping & Instrument Drawings to support operations.
• Evaluate equipment performance and maintain records.
• Follow Work Permit, LOTO, and energy isolation procedures.
• Communicate clearly with team members, vendors, and management.
• Assist with starting/stopping plants safely per operating conditions.
• Support maintenance and updates of plant equipment instructions.
• Collaborate with operations to cover vacations and shifts as needed.
