Job summary

San Luis & Delta-Mendota Water Authority's Jones Pumping Plant in Tracy seeks a Hydroelectric Plant Mechanic with strong mechanical skills. Under supervision, you will maintain and repair hydroelectric generating and pumping plant equipment, troubleshoot systems, perform preventive maintenance, and operate heavy machinery as required.

Minimum qualifications include completing a mechanical apprenticeship and three years as a journeyman machinist or plant mechanic; a California driver's license is

Qualifications

• Completion of a mechanical apprenticeship program.
• Three years of varied experience as a journeyman machinist or plant mechanic, maintaining and repairing facilities and equipment related to a hydroelectric generating or pumping plant.
• California Class C Driver License may be required at time of appointment.

Responsibilities

• Work as a member of a crew engaged in mechanical maintenance, troubleshooting, repair and rebuilding of hydroelectric generating and pumping plant equipment.
• Perform preventive maintenance on mechanical equipment.
• Operate forklifts, aerial lifts, overhead bridge and gantry cranes and perform rigging connected with maintenance.
• Overhaul and repair turbines, generators, motors, pumps, compressors, valves, pipes, penstocks and drive systems.
