Job summary

Monterey One Water is seeking a Maintenance Mechanic to perform inspection, diagnosis, and repair of pumps, valves, motors, and related equipment at the wastewater treatment facilities and pumping stations. The role involves SCADA monitoring, routine maintenance, and occasional fabrication work.

The position is entry-to-journey level, with training in welding, electrical troubleshooting, and safe operation of plant systems. Willingness to work varied hours and respond to emergencies is required.

Qualifications

• Equivalent to the completion of the twelfth grade supplemented by specialized course work in the maintenance and repair of mechanical equipment.
• An additional eight (8) years of relevant work experience can be used to supplement the required twelfth grade education.
• Two (2) years of experience for Maintenance Mechanic I; four (4) years for Maintenance Mechanic II.

Responsibilities

• Inspects, maintains, troubleshoots, and repairs plant, pump station, force main transmission lines, and regulating equipment.
• Monitors, controls, and analyzes pump station operation using SCADA and adjusts PLC parameters.
• Performs preventive maintenance including lubrication, oil changes, belt and filter replacement.
• Repairs, rebuilds pumps, replaces bearings, shafts, seals; fabricates parts as needed.
• Maintains records, reports on operations, and may respond to emergencies or standby duties.
