Job summary

Boat Design in Orlando, FL seeks a Hydrodynamic Engineer to support the Naval Virtual Ship Program, enabling realistic simulation of maneuvering, seakeeping and propulsion. Must be able to obtain a security clearance (does not need to be active).

You will perform hydrodynamic modeling using CFD and experiments, develop models for new ship classes, and collaborate with engineers to enhance training simulations.

Qualifications

• MS or PhD in engineering (naval architecture, ocean, aerospace or related discipline).
• Minimum 3 years of hydrodynamic modeling and CFD experience.
• Basic naval architecture for resistance, propulsion, stability and seakeeping.
• Strong analytical and research skills.
• Demonstrated leadership and teamwork capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Model and analyze hydrodynamic forces in six degrees of freedom for ships and submarines using CFD and experiments.
• Develop and validate maneuvering and seakeeping models for new ship classes.
• Plan, design and support implementation of propulsion, control and stability models.
• Analyze environmental forces including currents, wind, and shallow water effects.
• Assess forces due to lines, anchors and fenders.
