Job summary

The Inter-American Development Bank invites active graduate students to join as an Intern Consultant to support data management and hydroclimatic risk analytics in the Amazon region. Based in Washington, DC, the internship runs January 16 to March 15, 2027, and offers on-the-job learning with real project impact.

You will consolidate climate datasets, perform analyses with GIS, Python, R, SQL, and create visualizations and reports to inform water security and climate resilience initiatives.

Qualifications

• Active graduate student in engineering, environmental sciences, or data management with graduation after internship.
• Fluency in English; knowledge of another Bank language is a plus.
• Willingness to learn, collaborate, and contribute to client-focused climate projects.

Responsibilities

• Consolidate and curate climate and hydrological geospatial datasets for hydroclimatic risk in the Amazon.
• Model, process, and analyze floods, droughts, and climate change impacts with GIS and statistical tools.
• Develop maps, dashboards and analytical summaries to support decision-making for water security.
• Prepare technical outputs and document data sources, methods, and workflows.
• Collaborate on research and integrate climate risks into development initiatives in the Amazon Basin.
