Job summary

Alabama Power is seeking a Hydro Superintendent for Weiss Dam to provide daily supervision for safe operation, maintenance and regulatory compliance of the hydro plant. The role oversees safety, performance, budgets and coordination with plant staff and community partners.

The ideal candidate has strong leadership, plant operations experience, and ability to manage schedules, outages, and compliance programs while building relations with unions and stakeholders.

Qualifications

• BS degree in Engineering or 5+ years of plant related experience.
• If no BS in Engineering, at least 10 years of plant related experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Serves as the Plant Champion for Safety.
• Provides performance management for employees at assigned plant(s) including daily performance feedback and development.
• Sets the daily agenda for plant activities (e.g. Safety, JSB’s, maintenance activities, inspections and preventive maintenance).
• Participates in community activities and builds relationships with community leaders in assigned geographic area.
• Serves as SME for technical plant issues, best practices, security, and special projects as requested.
• Develops and manages short- and long-range O&M and capital budgets for assigned plant(s).
• Manages inventory of assigned plant(s).
• Serves as Compliance Owner for assigned plant(s) with regulatory and safety programs.
• Develop a healthy working dynamic with IBEW and ensures contract compliance.
