Xcel Energy is hiring a Mechanic Technician Apprentice/Journeyman at the Hydro Maintenance Building in Chippewa Falls, WI. The starting apprentice rate is $30.84 per hour (60%), with Journeyman pay up to $51.40 per hour.

The role includes preventive, predictive and corrective maintenance on hydro equipment and requires CDL Class A within six months. The position offers competitive benefits and a structured path under union contracts.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent required.
• 1 year of experience as a maintenance mechanic in an industrial setting or military experience.
• Must have good oral and written communication skills and be proficient with MS Word and MS Excel; CMMS experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Determines safe methods and practices of repairing power plant equipment.
• Routinely applies knowledge of mechanical systems, rigging, lifting, scaffolding and hand tools.
• Performs preventive, corrective and predictive maintenance on hydro mechanical equipment.
• Interprets mechanical drawings and maintains inventory of tools and spare parts.
