Job summary

Sitka, City and Borough of (AK) seeks a Power Plant Operator/System Dispatcher to operate hydroelectric and diesel generation, transmission, substations, and distribution systems. You will monitor loads, control water resources and fuel use, and ensure reliable, safe, and cost-effective power for Sitka's customers.

Under supervision of Lead Power Plant Operator, you will work independently, respond to alarms, perform switching, maintain SCADA, and assemble records for reports and audits.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in electric utility operations or maintenance.
• Experience with a SCADA system preferred.
• Any equivalent combination of experience, education and training.

Responsibilities

• Monitors, operates, and dispatches electric generation, transmission, substation, and distribution systems.
• Responds to alarms, performs switching, and ensures safe system operation.
• Maintains SCADA control and records, and prepares reports.
• directs and controls system restoration after outages and during emergencies.
• Performs routine maintenance and housekeeping in assigned areas.
