Job summary

Heavy Equipment Manufacturing in Grundy Center, IA is seeking a Hydraulic Assembly Technician to join a hands-on manufacturing team that builds large-scale concrete paving equipment used worldwide. Training is provided in equipment, hydraulic systems, assembly processes, and quality standards.

You will be part of a small team of 6–8 technicians focused on precise assembly. The role emphasizes basic mechanical skills, a strong work ethic, reliable attendance, and the ability to read instructions

Responsibilities

  • Install and route hydraulic hoses, tubing, valves, pumps, cylinders, and related components.
  • Perform general mechanical assembly of heavy construction equipment.
  • Read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring equipment safely and effectively.
  • Connect and secure hydraulic and mechanical components according to specifications.
  • Inspect assemblies for proper installation, routing, fit, and workmanship.
  • Assist with hydraulic system testing and troubleshooting.
  • Work closely with other assembly technicians to complete equipment efficiently and accurately.
  • Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
  • Identify problems or potential issues and communicate them to team members and supervisors.
  • Follow company safety, quality, and production procedures.

HYDRAULIC ASSEMBLY TECHNICIAN – GRUNDY CENTER, IA
Position Overview

We are looking for a Hydraulic Assembly Technician to join our growing manufacturing team. In this hands-on position, you will help assemble the hydraulic and mechanical systems used on large-scale concrete paving equipment built for highways and airports around the world.

The ideal candidate does not need extensive hydraulic experience. Basic mechanical knowledge, a willingness to learn, attention to detail, and a strong work ethic are more important. We are willing to train the right person in our equipment, hydraulic systems, assembly processes, and quality standards.

You will work as part of a team of approximately 6 – 8 assembly technicians, building sophisticated heavy machinery from the ground up.

Key Responsibilities
  • Install and route hydraulic hoses, tubing, valves, pumps, cylinders, and related components.
  • Perform general mechanical assembly of heavy construction equipment.
  • Read and follow assembly drawings, work instructions, and hydraulic schematics.
  • Use hand tools, power tools, and basic measuring equipment safely and effectively.

Physical Requirements

This is a hands-on manufacturing position involving heavy equipment and mechanical components. The employee must be able to:

  • Stand and work for extended periods.
  • Frequently bend, reach, climb, kneel and work in various positions around large machinery.
  • Lift and handle tools, hoses, fittings and mechanical components.
  • Work Safely around large industrial equipment.
  • Perform work requiring good hand-eye coordination and attention to detail.
