Job summary

Nippon Sanso Matheson, Inc. in Lima, OH seeks an entry-level Operations Technician to learn hydrogen plant operations, cover day, night, and weekend shifts, and support vacation coverage while building fundamentals in safety and reliability.

You will work with the operations and maintenance teams on daily tasks, moving toward a regular technician role based on aptitude, teamwork, and performance, with an expected approx 40 hours per week.

Qualifications

Responsibilities

• Learn to operate and maintain the process of a steam methane reformer and related equipment.
• Monitor the process and related equipment; perform rounds and logs.
• Maintain safety, housekeeping, and hazard elimination.
• Read P&ID to understand operations and aid in troubleshooting.
• Demonstrate mechanical aptitude and document equipment performance.
• Follow safety policies and report incidents and unsafe conditions.
• Maintain plant equipment and update work instructions.
• Apply lockout/tagout and energy isolation procedures as required.
• Communicate effectively with team, vendors, safety, and management.
• Assist with starting/stopping plants safely as needed.

Job description

This will be an introductory operations role thatwill be expected to learn the basics of hydrogen plant operations, outsideshift logs, duties and requirements to support operator shift vacations. This will require flexibility in coveringday, night and weekend shifts, generally with at minimum two weeks’ noticefor when coverage is needed. Thisposition has the potential to move into a regular Operations Technician rolebased on the selected candidate’s aptitude, work ethic, ability to learn andcontribute positively to the site’s safety, performance and reliability. During weeks when minimum or no vacationcoverage is needed this role will work with the operations and maintenanceteam on daily tasks. Expectation isthat this role will work approximately 40 hours per week, this could varydepending on shift coverage required.Matheson is looking for a candidate looking to learn and grow as anoperator that is willing to accept responsibility to be proactive andinnovative in solutions to ensure efficient plant operations and a safe workenvironment.

Hourly Rate: $28.00

EssentialFunctions

1. Obtain the knowledge baserequired to operate and maintain the process of a steam methane reformer andrelated equipment associated with the process, understand the plant's waterchemistry to assure proper operations and equipment functioning.
2. Monitor the process andoutside related equipment. Thisincludes making rounds, completing logs sheets, water sampling, oil andchemical transfers and maintaining housekeeping.
3. Be safety conscious, i.e.meetings, work area cleanliness, eliminate hazards when noted, etc.
4. Develop ability to interpretPiping & Instrument Drawings to understand process operations, equipmentand aid in trouble shooting system anomalies.
5. Demonstrate mechanicalaptitude, evaluate equipment performance and maintain appropriate records.
6. Follow company work policiesto promote a safe work environment that encourages active participation andtimely reporting of all incidents and unsafe conditions.
7. Participate in themaintenance and updating of plant equipment and work instructions.
8. Apply the Work Permitprocess, Lock-Out/Tag-Out (LOTO) and energy isolation procedures as requiredfor company and contractor personnel.
9. Good communication skillswith all team members, vendors, safety and management teams, etc.
10. Assist with starting /stopping the plants in a safe manner as dictated by operating conditions andbusiness needs.
