Job summary

Enterprise Information Services (EIS) is a state government IT organization led by Oregon’s CIO. The z/OS Systems Administrator provides top-tier technical and architectural support for IBM Z-OS and subsystems on a statewide level.

This role leads design, installation, and optimization of complex IBM Mainframe environments, handling critical service interruptions, capacity management, and vendor selections to support essential state agency operations.

Qualifications

• Seven (7) years of information systems experience in a shared mainframe environment using z/OS and related software.
• An associate's degree or higher in CS/IT or completion of a two-year accredited vocational program in IT or related field.
• AND 5 years of information systems experience in a shared mainframe environment using z/OS and related software.
• Bachelor's degree in IT/CS or closely related field AND three (3) years of information systems experience in a shared mainframe environment using z/OS and related software.
• Master's degree in IT/CS or closely related field AND one (1) year of information systems experience in a shared mainframe environment using z/OS and related software

Responsibilities

• Provide the highest levels of technical and architectural support for IBM Z-OS and related subsystems statewide.
• Lead design, installation, and optimization of complex IBM Mainframe environments.
• Perform advanced needs assessments and architectural planning for scalable business processes across multi-agency infrastructures.
• Evaluate related software, determine compatibility, perform cost/benefit analyses, and recommend changes.
