Job summary

The Paw Patch Inc. is seeking a Veterinary Assistant / Client Service Representative to join our Indianapolis clinic. This hybrid, full-time role combines client service duties with hands-on patient care in a busy small-animal hospital.

The position pays USD 18–20 per hour, with opportunities for flexibility, education and growth within a team-focused environment. Prior veterinary exposure is preferred, and DaySmart software experience is a plus.

Qualifications

• Excellent communication, organization, customer service and multitasking skills.
• Calm, compassionate approach with clients, patients and coworkers.
• Comfort with computers and practice software; DaySmart experience is a plus.
• Basic veterinary terminology, vaccine and preventive care knowledge preferred.
• Animal restraint, medical histories and laboratory experience are advantages.
• Dependability and willingness to work scheduled shifts in either department, with flexibility when coverage needs change.
• A collaborative, proactive attitude and desire to keep learning.

Responsibilities

• Welcome clients and patients; answer calls, messages and questions with professionalism and empathy.
• Schedule appointments, check patients in and out, process payments and maintain accurate records.
• Help triage client concerns and communicate promptly with the medical team.
• Maintain a clean, organized and welcoming reception area.
• Offer compassionate, discreet support during stressful or emotional situations.
• Run exam rooms, obtain thorough patient histories, and assist veterinarians during examinations and appointments.
• Coordinate care with veterinarian and veterinary technician team; communicate patient needs and follow treatment plans.
• Assist clients with online pharmacy requests, respond to prescription and order questions, and coordinate concerns with the medical team as appropriate.
• Provide client education on preventive care, medications, home-care instructions and veterinarian-recommended services, within training and under DVM guidance.
• Assist with triage, sample collection, laboratory processing and diagnostic imaging within training and skill level.
• Support patient nursing care, treatment preparation and hospitalized patient monitoring.
• Assist with surgical preparation, anesthesia monitoring and recovery as training and experience permit.
• Keep exam rooms and treatment areas clean, stocked and ready for patient care.
