Job summary

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university is required.
• Able to read, analyze, and interpret general business materials and write reports.
• Able to apply mathematical concepts and reasoning to practical underwriting tasks.
• Able to use Microsoft Office and proprietary software applications.

Responsibilities

• Complete underwriting training and learn state-specific rules and pricing.
• Review applications for insurance coverage and gather information from agencies.
• Analyze applicants to determine quotation or declination and communicate pricing.
• Escalate issues to supervisors when needed.
• Coordinate with underwriting support to bind policies and prepare loss-control requests.
• Communicate with clients and partners to maintain agency relations and meet deadlines.
• Attend agency visits with other underwriters and marketing managers.
• Perform special assignments and projects as required.
