Job summary

Zurich in North America seeks an Underwriting Specialist or Executive Underwriter for Umbrella/Excess Casualty in the Dallas area. The role offers hybrid work with in-office presence three days a week and emphasis on marketplace visibility with agents and brokers.

You will underwrite new and renewal business under delegated authority, building strong broker networks and managing complex accounts. Preferred background includes P&C underwriting experience and CPCU credentials.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or Equivalent and 3+ years of underwriting or market facing experience.
• Zurich Certified Insurance Apprentice with an Associate Degree and 1+ year in underwriting or market facing area.
• Zurich Approved Apprenticeship program with Associate Degree and 3+ years in underwriting or market facing area.

Responsibilities

• Proactively seek renewal and new account opportunities.
• Complete detailed opportunity assessment with key distributors to identify growth opportunities.
• Qualify accounts to meet the organization's appetite with sound business opportunity.
• Make agent/broker/customer and on-site calls with a planned and well-prepared purpose.
• Negotiate Terms & Conditions and close deals.
• Cross-Sell other lines of business to increase product density with the account.
• Participate in Sales Team meetings related to assigned brokers/territory.
• Engage in target account process, managing opportunities 90–120 days prior to effective date.
• Update systems with broker/client visit details and account status.
