Metro Associates in Upstate New York seeks a Transportation & Highway Technical Manager to provide senior technical leadership on highway and roadway design projects. Lead hands-on design, guide staff, and ensure quality delivery for NYSDOT and local municipalities.

You will influence technical strategy, oversee audits, and foster team development while contributing to impactful transportation infrastructure across the region.

Qualifications

• B.S. degree in Civil Engineering required.
• 8-15 years of experience in transportation, roadway, or highway engineering.
• Professional Engineering License (PE) preferred or ability to obtain it.
• Prior staff management preferred.
• Proficiency in MS Office; MicroStation preferred.
• Familiarity with NYSDOT design standards preferred.
• Performance standards aligned with client mission and values.
• Strong critical thinking, problem-solving and good judgment.
• Driven to own projects and meet deadlines in a fast-paced environment.

• Lead highway and roadway design projects to deliver quality results.

• Oversee design execution and ensure compliance with standards and client needs.
• Serve as technical lead for best practices, decisions, and troubleshooting.

• Assist in recruiting top engineering talent and aligning with culture.
• Lead continuous improvement initiatives and stay current with trends.
