Job summary

A. Morton Thomas and Associates, Inc. (AMT) in Columbus, OH is seeking a Transportation Engineer with a minimum of five years of experience to join our transportation team.

The role involves data collection, condition analyses, alignments, cross sections, superelevation, and MOT/traffic plan design, with potential collaboration across AMT offices. Hybrid work arrangement (2-3 days in office) is offered, with flexibility for remote work other days.

Qualifications

• BS in Civil Engineering from ABET accredited institution.
• Minimum 5 years relevant experience.
• Ohio Professional Engineer licensure required or ability to obtain within 6 months.
• Knowledge of civil engineering design concepts.
• Experience with roadway transportation projects including cost estimating, specifications, and highway plans for bid packages.
• Experience with transportation design standards.
• Experience with Microstation and ORD.
• ODOT and City of Columbus experience preferred; other state DOTs a plus.
• Experience with AutoCad, Civil3D, GIS (ArcGIS/Google Earth), SignCAD, AutoTurn.
• Completion of various ODOT prequalification courses a plus.
• MS Office proficiency (Word and Excel).
• Excellent oral and written communication skills; ability to work well in a team.

Responsibilities

• Collect data and perform existing condition and alternative analysis for reports.
• Develop horizontal and vertical alignments; perform cross section and superelevation design.
• Design roadside barriers and ADA curb ramps; roadway modeling and MOT/traffic plans.
• Collaborate with AMT offices on assignments and project opportunities.
• Support multiple projects with strong problem-solving and teamwork.
