Job summary

NV5 is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer II in Irvine, CA. This hybrid role covers routing, design, and execution of high voltage overhead projects from 60kV to 500kV, with a focus on improving grid reliability.

You will work with PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE/TOWER, perform structure and foundation design, prepare drawings, and support construction activities. A 3–5 year background and ABET-accredited degree are preferred.

Qualifications

• 3-5 years of progressive overhead transmission engineering experience.
• ABET-accredited Bachelor’s degree in a related engineering field.
• MS degree in a related discipline is a plus.
• Experience with 12kV to 500kV line design is a plus.
• Familiarity with Power Line Systems software (PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE/TOWER) is a plus.
• EIT certification is a plus.
• PE license is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Routing and design of transmission lines using PLS software suite.
• Structure analysis, foundation design, and material procurement.
• Project cost estimation, documentation, and quality control reviews.
• Construction support and interaction with field crews.
