Job summary

Sargent & Lundy seeks a transmission line engineer in a hybrid Richmond, VA role. You will design lines from 69kV to 765kV, analyze structures, and develop specs for materials and construction, using PLS-CADD/PLS-POLE and related tools. ABET accreditation and 1+ years of experience (or a Master’s) are ideal.

Your duties include conducting foundation designs, conductor studies, and cost/schedule development, with strong MS Office proficiency and excellent communication.

Qualifications

• This position requires a degree from an ABET-accredited engineering program.
• Related engineering, internship or co-op work experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• 1+ years of transmission line engineering experience or a Master’s degree.
• Knowledge of practical engineering principles for transmission lines.
• Familiarity with producing technical plans, drawings, and models.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
• Perform foundation designs.
• Conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Develop cost estimates, schedules, and specifications for materials and construction.
• Specify transmission line components and review vendor submittals.
