Job summary

Jobot is seeking a Transmission Line Engineer in Houston to support the design and execution of high-voltage transmission projects. You will focus on overhead transmission line engineering, including structure design, routing, conductor selection, plan and profile development, and project coordination for mid to senior level engineers.

Ideal candidates bring 3+ years of experience, a Civil or Electrical degree, and familiarity with PLS-CADD and industry standards.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Civil Engineering or Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum 3+ years of transmission line design experience.
• PE License preferred or obtainable within a reasonable timeframe.
• Experience designing overhead transmission systems in utility, consulting, or EPC settings.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and related transmission design software.
• Strong knowledge of routing, conductor selection, structure spotting, foundations, and construction.
• Familiarity with NESC, ASCE, IEEE, ANSI codes and related standards.
• Excellent communication and project coordination skills.

Responsibilities

• Perform engineering and design for transmission line projects from 34.5kV through 500kV.
• Develop cost-effective, constructible transmission line designs.
• Prepare engineering calculations, design packages, and construction documents.
• Support project planning, scheduling, and technical execution.
• Coordinate with clients, project teams, and other engineering disciplines.
• Review and develop material takeoffs and project deliverables.
• Ensure compliance with industry standards and applicable engineering codes.
• Provide technical guidance and mentorship to junior engineers as experience allows.
• Support project meetings, client interactions, and occasional field activities.
• Travel periodically in support of project and client needs.
