Job summary

Sargent & Lundy is seeking a transmission line engineer in the United States to apply expertise across conductors, hardware, insulation, structures and foundations for 69kV to 765kV projects. You will design lines, perform structural and foundation analyses, and prepare procurement specifications and drawings for transmission line projects.

This role offers a hybrid schedule—three days in the office and two remote days—with a relocation package depending on location.

Qualifications

• ABET-accredited engineering degree is required.
• Related engineering internship or co-op experience.
• Proficiency with PLS-CADD and PLS-POLE.
• 3+ years of transmission line engineering experience.
• Knowledge of design techniques and production of technical plans/drawings.
• Proficiency with MS Office applications.
• Excellent written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design transmission lines in the 69kV to 765kV range.
• Perform structural analysis and design of pole, lattice, framed, and guyed structures.
• Perform foundation designs.
• Conductor selection studies, shielding, grounding and induction studies.
• Develop cost estimates and schedules and prepare procurement specifications.
• Specify transmission line components.
• Model transmission lines in PLS-CADD, determine ROW requirements and sag calculations.
• Review vendor submittals.
