Job summary

VHB is seeking a Transit and Rail Engineer for a hybrid role based in Philadelphia, PA or Lansdale, PA. You will work with a multidisciplinary team on rail and bus projects, including stations, maintenance facilities, bridges, and right-of-way infrastructure.

The role emphasizes technical design, scheduling, budgeting, and coordination with agencies like SEPTA, Amtrak, NJ Transit, or MTA. A PE license and relevant project experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field; Master’s is a plus
• 5 years of professional transit & rail/transportation engineering design experience
• Understanding of AREMA/APTA practices and rail design requirements
• Professional Engineer license (PE)
• Experience with Amtrak/SEPTA/NJ Transit/MTA projects preferred
• Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and/or MicroStation is preferred

Responsibilities

• Assist in design on rail projects including stations, facilities, bus transit, bridges, and tracks
• Develop and manage project schedules and budgets
• Prepare technical reports and analyses
• Develop construction bid documents and provide construction support
• Collaborate in a multi-disciplinary team on complex transit projects
• Perform inspections and assessments of rail infrastructure
• Develop drawings, specifications, and cost estimates
