Job summary

STV is seeking a Traffic Engineering Intern to join our team in a hybrid role requiring in-office presence several days a week. This opportunity targets undergraduate and graduate students who will support transportation projects and gain hands-on experience in traffic studies, design, and analysis.

The position prefers candidates available for at least 3 months and willing to work full-time during the internship period.

Qualifications

• Currently pursuing a bachelor's or master's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field at an ABET-accredited university or NCEES equivalent.

Responsibilities

• Assist with traffic engineering studies, transportation planning, and traffic design projects.
• Conduct traffic simulation and operational analyses using software such as VISSIM, Synchro/SimTraffic, and HCS.
• Assist with the preparation and review of traffic impact studies, technical reports, and analysis documentation.
• Support transportation safety analyses involving vehicles, pedestrians, and bicyclists.
• Assist with traffic signal operations, signal coordination and timing, and pedestrian and bicycle facility analysis.
• Develop design concepts and assist with roadway signing, pavement markings, and maintenance of traffic (MPT) plans using MicroStation and/or AutoCAD.
• Support multidisciplinary project teams by providing traffic engineering input for environmental studies, roadway design, and Design Approval Documents.
• Coordinate with project team members and assist with communication with state Departments of Transportation (DOTs) and local agencies.
• Assist with data collection, analysis, and the preparation of technical proposals and business development materials.
• Participate in public information meetings and other project-related activities.
• Perform other tasks as assigned to support project goals and team objectives.
